In a recent survey conducted by the BLS we asked our CLSOs and CMLSOs about their experience of being certified. This is what they’ve said:
“My credentials are no longer questioned!”
“Certification makes an LSO more valuable to an organization.”
“I have increased confidence and makes it easier to do my job.”
“The reward is having co-workers trust and respect your advice.”
“Extremely gratifying personal accomplishment. . . increas[ed] networking opportunities!”
“I routinely communicate with people all the way up the chain of command including the President and CEO of the health system. . . They rely on my recommendations for development of new programs and purchases of new equipment as well.”
20% responded that they have received pay raises/bonuses/compensation because they were certified. Pay raises included advancing salary classes, promotions, annual bonuses, and clinical ladders.
Of the 20%, more than one third saw more than a $5000 increase in salary!
